The Not-Quite-Definitive 21st Century Torchwood Timeline(s)

Firstly, thank you to everyone who commented on this post; it's been a big help.

I think I've now worked out a fairly good and mostly consistent 21st Century timeline for both Seasons of Torchwood, and where they fit in with contemporaneous Doctor Who episodes. In addition to the commenters on my previous post, I've drawn heavily on this timeline (author unknown to me by melinafandom), various timeliney stuff from beccaelizabeth, and the wiki timeline. As with my previous post, this contains spoilers for ALL of TW S2, and for DW S4 (based on filming reports and BBC info up to and including the finale; these can be found at Planet Gallifrey).

Firstly, after thinking it all through, I have decided NOT to base this timeline at all on any years that we see on pieces of paper or computer screens (ie, in Aliens of London, Random Shoes, and Combat)-- all of these contradict each other, and it's impossible to reconcile them. Hopefully in a future DVD release RTD can have these changed by computer so that everything fits in perfectly. Due to this, I'm locating Rose in 2004. Additionally, I am completely disregarding the dates of any apocrypha from the BBC and BBCA websites, as these dates clearly correspond to air dates, rather than the dates of the actual episodes.

I think that what I'm putting below is as close to a "canon" timeline as I can get-- it only contradicts canon where canon contradicts itself (I hope). Of course, if I've made a major error, please point this out to me.

UPDATE: I now have two different options for the timeline-- please let me know which you think works better.

UPDATED TIMELINE HERE

Torchwood Timeline: 21st Century [Option 1: Assumes the "Four years previously" in Owen's story in Fragments was accurate to within the space of one month]

January 2000: (Jan 1) Jack Harkness takes over Torchwood Three as leader.
January 2000 thru December 2003: Jack cuts all ties with Torchwood One; Recruits Suzie Costello (I'm assuming that Suzie was recruited before Tosh and Owen because she was 2IC in Everything Changes).
March 2004: DW 1.01, Rose
March-June 2004: Toshiko Sato creates sonic modulator; is imprisoned by UNIT (roughly five years before Fragments in 2009).
July-October 2004: Jack recruits Tosh and has her record wiped (roughly three years before Greeks Bearing Gifts in 2007).
February 2005: Jack recruits Owen Harper to Torchwood (roughly four years before Fragments).
[Early] March 2005: DW 1.04, 1.05, Aliens of London/World War Three. Tosh goes to London posing as a doctor to investigate "space pig"; covering for Owen who had a hangover in his second week.
September 2005: DW 1.11, Boom Town. Jack keeps TW team under lockdown so that none of them run into his former self (from info in Twilight Streets). The TARDIS chameleon circuit creates a perception filter directly above the Torchwood Hub, which Jack subsequently uses to create the invisible lift.
December 2006: DW 2.0, The Christmas Invasion. Jack obtains (catches? steals from TW1?) the Doctor's severed hand.
Tosh and Owen snog out front of the Millennium Centre.
June 2007: DW 2.12, 2.13, Army of Ghosts, Doomsday. Battle of Canary Wharf; Lisa Hallet semi-converted; Two members of TW3 go through the wreckage of TW1 (Owen and Suzie?*); Ianto Jones seeks (and finds) employment at Torchwood Three.
July 2007: TW 1.01, Everything Changes, TW 1.02 Day One.
August 2007: TW 1.03, Ghost Machine, TW 1.04, Cyberwoman.
September 2007: TW 1.05 Small Worlds, TW 1.06 Countrycide, TW 1.07, Greeks Bearing Gifts. Approximately three years after Tosh started working for TW3 in 2004.
October 2007: TW 1.08, They Keep Killing Suzie, TW 1.09 Random Shoes.
December 2007: TW 1.10, Out of Time.
DW 3.0, The Runaway Bride.
January 2008: TW 1.11, Combat, TW 1.12, Captain Jack Harkness.
[Early] February 2008: TW 1.13, End of Days
DW 3.11, Utopia. Based on the persuasive arguments of lorannah, who suggested that the Doctor takes Martha back a few months before he met her in order to take advantage of the Rift activity caused in TW 1.13.
[Late] May 2008: DW 3.01, Smith and Jones, DW 3.06 The Lazarus Experiment.
[Early] June 2008: DW 3.07, 42 (Phone call to Martha's mother). TW team are sent to the Himalayas. It is approximately 18 months since the downfall of Harriet Jones in The Christmas Invasion (actually closer to 17 months, but people do round these things to the nearest half-year).
DW 3.12, DW 3.13, The Sound of Drums/Last of the Time Lords (Not counting the year that never was).
After LotL, Jack, Martha and the Doctor spend a few days resettling Martha's family and cleaning up the mess on the Valiant. During this time, the TW team return from the Himalayas and start hunting the Blowfish Alien.
TW 2.01, Kiss Kiss, Bang Bang.
[Mid-late] June 2008: TW 2.02, Sleeper, TW 2.03 To the Last Man. (TTLM takes place on June 20th, the only viable "Friday 20th" in 2008).
July/August 2008: TW 2.04, Meat.
September/October 2008: TW 2.05, Adam.
November 2008: TW 2.06, 2.07, 2.08, Reset, Dead Man Walking, A Day in the Death. (There is nothing definitive that places these episodes at these exact times; I just think that the spacing works well).
December 2008: DW 4.0, Voyage of the Damned.
January 2009: DW 4.01, Partners in Crime.
[Early] February 2009: TW 2.09, Something Borrowed.
DW 4.04, 4.05, The Sontaran Strategem/The Poison Sky.
[Late] February 2009: DW 4.06, The Doctor's Daughter.
TW 2.10, From Out of the Rain.
This allows approximately two weeks for Gwen's honeymoon, and assumes that Martha's email to Jack, in which she says that she's sorry for missing Gwen's wedding, refers to the Sontaran/Doctor's Daughter business.
March 2009: TW 2.11, Adrift, TW 2.12, 2.13, Fragments/Exit Wounds.
This works perfectly with all the Fragments stories, but does seem to conflict with Jack's assertion that he needs to be frozen for 107 years in 1901: I'm going to assume that Jack was dug up in December 1901, which would mean that he needed to be frozen for 107 years and 3 months; it seems reasonable that he would round this down to 107 years.
[Late] March/April 2009: DW 4.11, 4.12, 4.13, Turn Left/TBA/Journey's End.

March 2008: TW 2.11, Adrift, TW 2.12, 2.13, Fragments/Exit Wounds.
This assumes that when something is referred to as X years ago, they are simply subtracting the year it happened from 2008-- hence, Owen's story begins "Four years ago" even though it's more accurately 3.5 years. When they want to be more specific, they give the time period in months, as with Ianto's story. This also works with Jack's need to be frozen for 107 years in 1901.
[Late] March/April 2008: DW 4.11, 4.12, 4.13, Turn Left/TBA/Journey's End.

In some ways this second timeline works a lot better, as it seems to tie in with the writers' assumption that the Season finale roughly coincides with air-date. It also works in with what David Tennant says on the Last of the Timelords commentary: he says that the final scene, in which the Doctor finds himself on the "Titanic", is supposed to be Christmas 2007. It also means that 2.03 would have been set in July 2007 (which had a Friday 20th), so the first three episodes of S2 could be spaced more evenly. Furthermore, this fits in better with the Harry Potter reference ("Wait until you read book seven!") in DW 3.02, The Shakespeare Code, which implies that the Doctor picked Martha up before the publication of Deathly Hallows, which was July 21st 2007 (according to this timeline, the same day that Tommy was sent back to 1918 *sniff*). The more I think about it, the more I favour this second timeline as more canonical.

*My guess is that Jack sent Owen and Suzie to go through the wreckage of TW1 because (a) Owen immediately recognised the cyber-conversion unit in Cyberwoman and (b) it seems logical to send Suzie since she was the 2IC. I assume that Jack didn't go, or Ianto would have said "You went through the wreckage of TW1" rather than "Two of your people...etc."
